Provo Hockey League has come a long way (See some early photos) from its humble beginnings. Back then it was a dozen or so kids and a couple of dedicated parents who would get together once a week for a fun game of ball hockey. The venue for these games was an abandoned tennis court with a crumbling surface surrounded by pine trees that would constantly drop their slender scaly leaves and pine cone like fruit all over the playing surface. The lack of decent facilities never dampened the enthusiasm for the game and as time went by it became clear this type of organized activity was something that the youth of the Islands had been missing out on. With the construction of a new sports facility in Providenciales came a new era for the game of hockey in the Turks and Caicos Islands. During construction a chance meeting with a Mr. Steve Wilmoth who was on site to install the new floor surface at the facility, gave the PHL the start it needed. Steve willingly shared his vast knowledge and experience in running similar leagues in North America and helped the PHL become what it is today. The PHL decided from the beginning that if it was to be done it would be done right, all too often programs begin with the best intentions but fade and ultimately fail because of poor organization and half measures. What was and still is amazing is the incredible support that the league receives from the community. Year after year volunteers and sponsors do not hesitate to give their time and money to make this program a reality.

Fanzone In an effort to make our website as interactive and fun for the players and fans alike we have started a fan section that we call, Fanzone. This is an area for photos, stories, social media and just about anything else of interest to the hard core fans of hockey here in Provo! One of the great things about living in Provo, and by extension playing hockey in Provo, is the large number of different nationalities that come together to make our game great. Let us know if we are missing your nationality so we can add it to our Wall.
